Jake Astor enters his second season at Iowa Central after serving four seasons at the Tritons long term rival DMACC. Astor was an assistant coach for the Bears during his three seasons before being named Interim Head Coach for the 2015-2016 season.

Astor comes to Iowa Central with a wealth of experience in the ICCAC. Astor played for DMACC during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. During those two seasons, DMACC won the ICCAC regular season, ICCAC Regional Tournament, North Plains District Tournament, and qualified for the NJCAA Division II World Series. Astor was a 1st Team All American selection both years at DMACC. He also earned the ABCA National Player of the Year award during the 2009 season.

After DMACC, Astor attended Southern Arkansas University an NCAA Division II powerhouse. Southern Arkansas went 83-26 during Astor’s playing career with the Muleriders.

Astor was a two time 1st Team All-American, 2009 ABCA National Player of the Year, and also an All-Conference player at Southern Arkansas. Astor was a 1st Baseman/Designated Hitter during his college career at both Southern Arkansas and DMACC.

Assistant coach Astor will be in charge of the Triton hitters and will work as a housing coordinator for Iowa Central.
