Iowa Central continued its hot start to the early season by defeating Dakota County, MN last night by a score of 90-80. In a game which was back and forth between the two teams, Iowa Central was able to pull away at the end and open a 12 point lead. But Dakota County would not fold as they came back to cut it to a 6 point lead with under a minute to go but Iowa Central knocked down crucial free throws to keep the Knights at a distance. "For the most part, we did a good job tonight of moving the ball. We missed some open shots but that is going to happen. But we battled and made some big shots when we needed them the most. Tray Croft hit some big free throws down the stretch that were a huge factor. I thought Royshawn Webb played an excellent 2nd half both offensively and defensively. Although Dallas Bailey didn't make his normal shots, I thought he played really well and the stat sheet says it too by getting a triple double. He found other ways to contribute to the win," said Dennis Pilcher, head coach of Iowa Central.
With the win, Iowa Central is now 12-2 overall. They will play host to Little Priest on Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm. That game will be the Tritons last game before Christmas break.
