Tritons split in Nebraska

The Iowa Central men's basketball team split over the weekend in a pair of games against Nebraska Community Colleges.  On Friday night, Iowa Central was defeated by Northeast Community College by a score of 87-80.  On Saturday, the Tritons were able to bounce back with 88-73 victory over Central Community College. 

In a back and forth game for much of the night, Northeast was able to convert late on free throws and empty Iowa Central possessions to take the game by 7, "we just didn't execute late in the game when we needed to.  Our shot selection and defense really hurt us when we needed it the most." Said Dennis Pilcher, head coach of Iowa Central.  "If we want to win close games, those two things have to be a must."

On Saturday, Iowa Central was able to bounce back after their Friday night defeat and beat Central by a score of 88-73.  With the win, Iowa Central improved to 3-1 on the year.  In a game where Iowa Central built an 11 point lead, the Tritons were able to push their lead to as many as 16 in the second half and cruised to the victory.  "This was a good bounce back win after losing a tight game on Friday.  We came out and executed what we wanted to, moved the ball and hit some open shots.  If we can continue to do that, we have a chance to have a successful season." Said Dennis Pilcher, head coach of Iowa Central.
