A quick start by Iowa Central couldn't hold off Southeastern on Tuesday night as the Blackhawks rallied in the second half to beat Iowa Central 84-71. The Tritons took a 41-40 lead into half but that lead quickly dissolved at Southeastern turned up the defensive pressure. "I thought in the first 15 minutes of the game, we played as well as we have all year. We had good ball movement, penetration and obviously we shot it well. That's what we need to continue to do. And then, the last 5 minutes of the first half and first 5 minutes of the second half, Southeastern made their run and got us on our heels." Said Dennis Pilcher, head coach of Iowa Central.
In the first half, hot shooting le the Tritons to a 34-24 lead over the Blackhawks. Iowa Central was 9-16 in the first half from the 3 pt line. "Jenkins and Shannon got us going in the first half with their shooting. We need to have them continue to play well for us and to make shots. That will open up more driving lanes for us," Said Pilcher. In the second half, Southeastern was able to take away some of those 3 pt shots as the Tritons only made 3 in the final 20 minutes. "We will keep working on our things. I think we will learn from playing teams like this." Said Pilcher.
