ESTHERVILLE — The Iowa Central men open up Region XI Tournament play vs. Iowa Lakes on Tuesday night looking to find their postseason spark.
Tip is set for 7 p.m. here inside the Laker Gymnasium.
After picking up back-to-back wins over Southwestern and Little Priest, the Tritons (12-18 overall) closed the regular season with road losses at Ellsworth and Des Moines Area.
Back in January, though, Iowa Central upset the then-ranked Lakers at Hodges Fieldhouse, 98-96. Kemryn Henkins scored 27 points in that win, with Dallas Bailey adding 24, Kendrick Foster 17, Kane Kramer 13 and Royshawn Webb 11.
Iowa Lakes rebounded with an 84-64 victory at home last month, racing out to a 46-23 halftime lead. Webb and Bailey each had 17.
Lamontae Lewis had 21 with Solomon Clayton scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the win for Iowa Lakes. Clayton, a graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High, is a starter alongside his brother, Malcolm.
Jenkins, Webb and Bailey all average double figures for the Tritons per game, with all three also shooting over 45 percent from the floor.
Kramer currently ranks fifth in the nation in 3-point shooting at 47 percent.
Kevin Jennings leads Iowa Lakes at almost 17 points per game, with Solomon Clayton and Equan Ards at 14 each. Malcolm Clayton posts just over seven per night.
The Lakers have won three in a row and five of their last six. They are 8-4 on the season on their home floor.
The winner meets either third-ranked North Iowa Area or Little Priest on Thursday at the higher-seed. The finals are scheduled for Saturday with the regional champion advancing to nationals on March 19-23 in Danville, Ill.
