Tritons compete at University of Iowa and University of Minnesota

The Triton Track and Field teams were busy this weekend, partaking in both the University of Iowa's Black and Gold Premier and the University of Minnesota's Jack Johnson Classic.  In Iowa City, the Tritons had strong performances from Nelda Huggins, as she finished 2nd with a time of 7.40 in the 60 Meter Dash, and 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 24.93; Bryant Brown broke both a school record and meet record with his 1st place finishing time of 6.71 in the 60 Meter Dash.  Malik Beverly had a pair of top 3 finishes, as he came in 2nd in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 21.43, and 3rd in the 60 Meter High Hurdles with a time of 7.83. 

Other top five finishes included Akeem Bradshaw with a 1st place finish and meet record in the Triple Jump (14.68m/ 48-02ft); The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Vincent Notz, Thomas Zor, Phemelo Matlhabe, and Ndiaga Seck with a 1st place finishing time of 3:27.24; Chris Thompson with a 2nd place finish in the Triple Jump (13.95m/ 45-09.25ft); and Marjanae Coley with a 5th place finish in the 400 Meter Dash (57.14).

At the University of Minnesota Jack Johnson Classic, the Tritons were led by last week's National Athlete of the Week, Adva Cohen, as she had two top 2 finishes.  Cohen broke her own school record with her winning 1 Mile time of 4:47.96, and barely missed another victory, with a 2nd place finish in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:15.92.  Other top five finishes were Agnes Mansaray, with a  2nd place finish in the 400 Meter Dash (57.72); Cary Lockhart with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Meter Dash (22.49); Dan Oyekunle with a 5th place finish in the 200 Meter Dash (23.54); and Daequan Travis with a 5th place finish in the 60 Meter High Hurdles (8.62).

Marion Bartilol, Sierra Stucky, Abeba Sullivan, Katy Pfile – 1 Mile

Maddie Schmoker – Shot Put

 

The Tritons return to action this weekend as they head to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational as well as The Ted Nelson Classic at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
