The Iowa Central Track and Field team competed at two meets this weekend, with half of the team at the University of Iowa Black and Gold Premier, and the other half at the University of Minnesota Jack Johnson Classic. At the University of Iowa meet, the Tritons had three new National Qualifiers. Thomas Bryant, who finished 3rd in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:22.27; Awet Yohannes, who finished 4th in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.73 (which is also the 6th fastest time in Iowa Central history); and Olivier Soglohun, who finished 5th in the Triple jump with a jump of 14.53m/47-08.00 ft (which was the 4th best mark in school history).
New National Qualifiers at the University of Minnesota meet were Nick Hudson, who finished 8th with a mark of 15.79m/51-09.75 ft in the Weight Throw; India McNeill, who finished 3rd in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.67; and Florance Uwajeneza, who finished 6th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.98.
Other notable performances this weekend were Levi Bulfer, who finished 10th in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.65m/11-11.75 ft (10th best mark in school history); Lea Grady, who finished 4th in the Shot Put with a throw of 14.88m/48-10.00 ft (3rd best mark in school history); Maddie Schmoker, who finished 9th in Weight Throw, with a distance of 16.35m/53-07.75 ft (6th best mark in school history); and Malachi Price, who finished 6th in the Weight Throw, with a distance of 17.07m/56-00.00 ft (10th best throw in school history).
