Bre Tjebben's transition from high school to college was nearly flawless, as the former Fort Dodge Senior High all-stater became an instant contributor for the Iowa Central softball team.

Tjebben was recently selected to the NJCAA Div. II All-American second team, with teammate Cheyenne Andersen landing on the third-team.

"It is such an honor and so rewarding," Tjebben said. "It's amazing to see all the hard work paying off. The season was so much fun and I'm proud of my teammates for all the honors they received as well."

Tjebben, who was picked for the utility role after playing both the infield and pitching, hit .443 in 51 games with 13 homers, 56 runs and 54 RBI. She had a .772 slugging percentage and struck out just six times in 167 at-bats.

"I can't wait to get back at it with my girls," Tjebben said. "And the incoming freshmen in August."

Andersen, who was named to the NFCA Div. II first team, is headed to the University of Northern Iowa in the fall after setting new school records for single-season and career home runs. The former Indianola standout finished her Triton career with 39 homers, 133 runs, 125 RBI, 42 steals, a .405 batting average and a 42-to-30 walk-to-strikeout ratio in 118 games.

It was a record-breaking year on the diamond for the Tritons as they led the country in home runs with 85 and finished third in the nation in RBI and runs scored. They were also fourth in hits, extra-base hits, slugging percentage and total bases.

Joining Tjebben and Andersen on the honor teams from the ICCAC were Des Moines Area's Josie Swafford (first team) and Mia Ruther (first), along with Kirkwood's Erin Hocker (second) and Shelby Hulsebus (second).

Along with Tjebben, Iowa Central will also return NFCA All-American Sophie Cave, Parker Mathews, Payton Andersen, Alexis Morrison, Sidney Marker, Lauren James and Bre Small from a team that went 40-17 overall.
