Iowa Central softball coach and current Athletic Director Rick Sandquist will be entering his 9th season as the Head Softball Coach.
Sandquist coached the Tritons from 2006-2010 and 2015-2018 and completely rewrote the record books. Sandquist led the Tritons to a 370-128 (.788 winning percentage) in his nine years at the helm. The Tritons won 50 games or more four times under Sandquist, including a 62-8 campaign in 2009 that saw the Tritons clinch their only NJCAA National Tournament berth.
Under Sandquist, Iowa Central also set every team offensive, defensive and pitching record as well. Sandquist believes in playing a fast paced- up-tempo style of softball that puts pressure on other teams.
Sandquist’s coaching career also saw him head the baseball program for nine seasons and amass an overall record of 390-131. In that time, the Tritons qualified for the NJCAA World Series five times, peaking with a National Runner-Up finish in 2000.
Sandquist is married to his wife, Annette. Together, they have four children, Kristina (husband Pat), Ashley, Amy (husband Eric), and his son Ricky (wife Katee). Sandquist also has six grandchildren, Cohen, Leighton, Jace, Aubrey, Nolan and Harper.
