Tritons Sweep Weekend Series with Marshalltown
Led by Cooper Nicholson's four homeruns and 11 RBI, #14 Triton Baseball scored 46 runs and swept a weekend series with Marshalltown at Harlan Roger Sports Complex to extend their win streak to six and ten of their last eleven.
"We had really solid production up and down our lineup," said Triton Head Coach, Eric Stein. "Along with our offensive production, our pitchers threw really well and did a great job of limiting free bases."
Nicholson had three home runs and six RBI on Saturday (4/5) to lead the Tritons to a 21-2 victory in seven innings to open the series with the Tigers. Chayton Fischer, Matt Galatzer, and Jacob Coshenet also added home runs. Ryan Ohm (6-0) tossed seven innings with five strikeouts in the win.
Seven Tritons had RBI in Sunday's (4/) 13-3 five inning victory. Jake Busson, Sawyer Stein, Isaiah Scott, Eric Nuno, and Bryson Carpenter each drove in two. Carter Giesen (5-0) threw five innings and had six strikeouts to earn his fifth win of the season.
Freshman, Chayton Fischer, drove in six runs to power the Tritons to a 12-1 seven inning victory in game two on Sunday. Nicholson added three hits and three RBI. Braxton Shaffer (2-4) picked up the win on the mound throwing five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.
The Tritons (28-6, 12-2 conference) play two on the road this week with trips to Iowa Western on Tuesday (4/8) and Southwestern on Thursday (4/10) before returning home for a weekend matchup with NIACC at Harlan Rogers. First pitch on Saturday (4/12) is set for 1:00 PM.
