Back-to-Back Weeks for McIntyre Lead Athlete of the Week Honors for Five Tritons
George McIntyre – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Shortstop
Iowa Central's George McIntyre reached base at an elite level this past week, scoring 16 runs while batting 11-for-17. Across five games, McIntyre hit three home runs, drove in six RBIs, drew seven walks and stole two bases. He homered in both games against Anoka-Ramsey (Minn.) to open the week, including a perfect game at the plate in Game 1. His top performance came in a 15-3 win over DMACC, where he again went perfect at the plate, hitting a home run and scoring four runs. McIntyre is leading the conference in multiple categories this season, including runs (56), hits (45), home runs (15), total bases (97) and slugging percentage (1.155).
Isaiah Brennan – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Relief Pitcher
Iowa Central's Isaiah Brennan was dominant on the mound, recording 10 strikeouts and allowing just one earned run over 5.2 innings. Facing 24 batters in the opening game against DMACC, Brennan struck out 42% of hitters he faced while allowing only one walk. Brennan helped secure a 14-6 win for the Tritons. Brennan is 3-0 this season. He has allowed 14 hits in 23.1 innings to go with 51 strikeouts, which leads the ICCAC Division II.
Jillian French – Iowa Central – Sophomore – RHP
Iowa Central's Jillian French pitched 16.2 innings across three games, recording 21 strikeouts while allowing three earned runs, 10 hits and seven walks. She opened the week with a complete-game performance against No. 16 NIACC, striking out eight and allowing just one unearned run in a 2-1 win. French added another victory with 10 strikeouts in a 4-1 win over Northeast. This season, French is 5-0 in 11 appearances. She has logged 46 innings and struck out 60. Her 9.13 strikeouts per game is third best in ICCAC Division II.
Angus Albert – Iowa Central – Sophomore
Iowa Central's Angus Albert leads the NJCAA early in the outdoor season after a strong showing at the Viking Relays. In the Shot Put, Albert threw 16.71 meters to take first place, surpassing the qualifying mark and standing as the only competitor to exceed 16 meters. He also competed in the Hammer Throw, recording a mark of 38.53 meters.
Unitee Brown – Iowa Central – Sophomore
Iowa Central thrower Unitee Brown competed in the Hammer Throw, Shot Put and Discus at the Viking Relays in Des Moines. Her top performance came in the Shot Put, where she threw 14.65 meters to take first place and set the top mark in the NJCAA this season. Brown also recorded 33.42 meters in the Hammer Throw (seventh place) and 32.76 meters in the Discus (third place).
