Triton Baseball Off To A 25-1 Start With 21 Consecutive Wins
Following a 2025 campaign that saw a dramatic 10-inning win over Southeastern to be crowned Region 11 Champions, a top-4 finish at the NJCAA World Series in their first trip since 2010, and more than 40 wins (48) for the third consecutive season, Triton Baseball has reeled off 21 consecutive wins and is 25-1 to begin their 2026 season.
"We have a lot of new faces from last year's team," said Triton Head Coach, Eric Stein, on the Tritons' fast start. "Through the non-conference portion, we were able to play a lot of different line-ups to see what we have going into conference play."
The Tritons' offense has been clicking on all cylinders with 90 home runs and a 14.8 runs per game average. Leading the way at the plate has been sophomore, George McIntyre. McIntyre is hitting .540 with 15 homeruns, 42 RBI, and 13 stolen bases. He leads the ICCAC in multiple categories including runs (56), hits (45), home runs (15), total bases (97) and slugging percentage (1.155). Fellow sophomore, Sawyer Stein, is hitting .500 with ten homeruns and 43 RBI. Freshman, Tate Perrin, has made an immediate impact as well, hitting .473 with 13 homeruns and 47 RBI.
On the mound for the Tritons, redshirt freshman, Maddox Sullivan, is 4-0 with a 2.05 ERA, 33 strikeouts, and four complete games. Sophomore, Maddux Gast is 4-0 with a 2.05 ERA and 16 strikeouts. Sophomores, Carter Giesen and Isaiah Brennan are both 3-0 and will be counted on as the Tritons move into the heart of conference play.
"I think we have some decent depth to our lineup and we're athletic enough to score in multiple ways," said Stein. "On the mound, our starters have done a solid job of eating some innings and helping us set up our bullpen."
The #12-ranked Tritons opened conference play with a three-game sweep of DMACC and a 24-7 victory over Iowa Lakes.
"The ICCAC is one of the top conferences in the country," said Stein. "We have to be ready to play. Anybody can beat anybody on a given day."
The Tritons are back in action this weekend for a three-game series with #11 Southeastern at Harlan Rogers. They'll play one nine-inning game on Saturday (3/28) and one seven-inning and one nine-inning game on Sunday (3/29). First pitch is set for 1:00 PM both days.
