Triton Baseball Into World Series Final Four With Victory over Madison

Triton Baseball into NJCAA World Series Final Four with victory over Madison
In a scene reminiscent of his 139 pitch, complete game 8-inning performance in an 11-2 victory over DMACC in the Region 11 Tournament, Maddux Gast did exactly what the Tritons needed on Wednesday (5/27) at the NJCAA World Series, leading the Tritons to a 15-6 victory over #3-seed Madison in 8-innings while throwing 118 pitches to keep the Tritons' season alive.

"I knew I just had to go out there and throw strikes. Have some fun." said Gast. "I've got the best offense in the country behind me. It's insane really. Not much else I can say about them."

The Triton offense came out firing on all cylinders with ten runs in the first three innings. Tate Perrin went 5-for-6 with two RBI to lead the Tritons. Ben Jones was 2-for-5 with a double, home run, and four RBI. Parker Studtmann added four RBI with two doubles.

"First, Max's performance was amazing. That's all we ask for. Throw strikes, make them put the ball in play, and we'll make plays for him," said Perrin. "We're a very resilient team. We've been working really hard on getting out to a fast start, scoring runs, and putting pressure on the other team to make plays."

Leading the nation in RBI (786), OBP (.512), SLG (.733), and home runs (188), the Tritons were 19-for-40 (.475) with two home runs and four doubles in the victory.

"With the numbers we put up, it was just a matter of time before our offense woke back up. We've been talking about stringing together hits," said Jones. "We had the home runs too. We put on a show. It was a good team win for us today."

The victory clinched a spot in the final four for the Tritons. Joining them will be #8-seed South Mountain, #4-seed Pasco-Hernando, and #2-seed Pearl River. The Tritons will need to take two from Pearl River (48-11) to advance to the national championship game. First pitch on Thursday (5/28) is set for 3:00 PM at David Allen Memorial Stadium in Enid, OK.
