Men's Team Title and Pair of Individual Titles at Triton Spring Invitational
Off to a strong start to their spring season, Triton Golf continued to play well as they welcomed 14 of the best teams from across the Midwest to the 2026 Triton Spring Invitational held on Friday (4/10) and Saturday (4/11) at the Fort Dodge Country Club. The Triton Men's team captured the team title and the Tritons took both individual titles, with Peyton Walker and Okira Quintero leading the way.
"It was a great weekend for the Tritons," said Triton Head Coach, Kris Graewin. "We had a loaded field this year and to be able to play our best golf of the year and play a full 36-holes was really good to see."
Leading after day one, the Triton Men never looked back on Saturday and went on to win the Men's title. Peyton Walker finished -3 and captured the individual title with scores of 71 and a bogey-free 68 on day two while leading the men to their title. Francis Lockwood (-1) finished third with rounds of 71 and 70 highlighted by an eagle on day one and birdies on four of the last six holes on day two. Eric Zuniga (+1) finished seventh after leading the field after day one. Filip Jarheden (+1) finished 20th and Cael Nixon (+9) finished 36th.
The Men's B team, led by a +5 from August Nord, finished eighth with the C team finishing 15th behind a +19 from Caleb Juhl.
"Peyton has taken his game to the next level this year and this was a testament to his hard work. A 68 with zero bogeys was incredibly impressive," said Graewin. "The team was able to pull off the win in part because Francis birdied four of his last six holes. He showed again why he is one of the best in the country."
On the women's side, Okira Quintero continued to show why she is one of the best players in the nation. With rounds of 77 and 76, Quintero finished +9 and won the individual women's title by six strokes. Azul Orantes and Syeda Laiba Shah both finished at +20 and tied for eighth place. With Victoria Verstichel withdrawing due to injury during Friday's round, the Triton weren't eligible for a team score.
"Okira has been putting in a ton of work on her game and I was extremely impressed with her dominant performance. She limited her mistakes and was able to play great," said Graewin. "Azul and Laiba both had great weekends and we're looking forward to building off this tournament."
Up next for the Tritons is a trip to Sioux City for the Triton Men on Tuesday, April 21 to compete in the Southeast Community College Scrimmage before both teams head to the NIACC Spring Invitational held at the Legacy Golf Course in Mason City on Friday, April 24.
