Triton Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Grand View University
The Iowa Central Tritons Track and Field team began their outdoor season on Saturday, March 21st at Viking Relays hosted by Grand View University in Des Moines, IA.
"The majority of our team is still recovery or rebuilding from the indoor season and national championships. For the rest of them, this was a great, low-key, first competition with some gorgeous weather. It was sunny and 80's and knowing Iowa, this might be one of the nicest days of the season. Our throwers kicked things off with a few qualifiers and top marks so that was a great way to begin," Director of Track and Field, Dee Brown.
"I don't want to complain about nice days, we don't get enough of them in the spring in the Midwest, but WOW was it hot! We weren't even able to practice outside at the beginning of the week and then it hit 90 degrees during our meet. Overall, it was a great first outdoor meet; we had three athletes put up national qualifying marks, and a few had lifetime bests." – Head Track and Field Coach, Anne Cleary
