Jessica Gunderson enters her fifth season as head coach of the Iowa Central shooting sports team.

 

In her first four seasons, Gunderson guided the Tritons to a 10-3 conference record, two runner-up finishes, and two third-place finishes at the national championships. Under her leadership, Iowa Central student-athletes have earned three individual national championships, eight All-American honors, and numerous Academic All-American recognitions.

 

Before joining the coaching staff, Gunderson also competed for the Tritons. During her collegiate career at Iowa Central, she was the 2016 state, regional, and national trap champion, and the 2017 state and junior Olympic trap champion. Gunderson was also involved in the Triton Marching and Pep bands and was named the 2017 Iowa Central Female Athlete of the Year. She finished her undergraduate work and shooting career at Missouri Valley College, where she earned All-American honors in 2019. In 2025, Gunderson was inducted into the Iowa Central Athletic Hall of Fame.

 

Outside of coaching, Gunderson remains active in the Amateur Trapshooting Association and the National Sporting Clays Association. She is an active member of the St. Martin’s choir, assists on her family’s farm, and enjoys spending time with her family and puppy, Remi.
