Successful Opening Weekend for Triton Rodeo at Cyclone Stampede

Competing for the first time this spring, the Triton Rodeo team opened their spring season at the Cyclone Stampede in Ames, IA with a team title for the Women's team and an 8th place finish for the men.

Triton Head Coach, Bridget Coleman, was happy with the Tritons' opening weekend performance. "We had some fast times and we had some tough rides. They showed a lot of heart this weekend," said Coleman. "Watching the women's team take the team title showed them that their hard work since our fall season has paid off."

Individually, Carmindee Ricke led the Tritons with 1st place in the Breakaway Roping short go and the highest average. Bly Hunt finished in the Barrel Racing short go and 6th in average, Sophie Kodet was 4th in the Goat Tying short go and split 4th/5th in average, and Mackinzie Mason split 8th/9th/10th in the Barrell Racing long go.

In Team Roping, Justin Gukenberger teamed with Brady Uppena (UWIPV) for a 4th place finish in the short go and 3rd in the average. Caden Ruff and Logan Hughes (SECC) split 3rd/4th in the long go.

"Every run tells a story and the weekend was full of them," said Coleman. "They don't just compete, they commit. I'm proud of all of them. Nothing comes easy out there."

Up next for the Tritons is the Jackrabbit Stampede hosted by South Dakota State University on April 10th & 11th in Brookings, SD.
