Triton Softball Seeing Early Season Success With 21-3 Start
Following a 49-win season filled with accolades and a trip to the 2025 NJCAA World Series, Triton Softball is off to an impressive 21-3 start with 18 consecutive victories to begin their 2026 campaign.
Back from a spring trip to Melbourne, FL, where they went 10-0, Triton Head Coach, Bo Tjebben is happy with where the Tritons are early in the season.
"We had a great trip going 10-0 in the Florida heat and we played ten games in six days," said Tjebben. "Everyone got to play and we had different players step up at different times though out the week. Our energy was awesome in the dugout and on the field."
Leading the way thus far at the plate for the Tritons has been sophomore, Natalie Rasmussen. Rasmussen is hitting .469 with nine homeruns, 32 RBI, and 18 stolen bases. Newcomer, Jersey Hawf, has made an immediate impact as well, hitting .446 with six homeruns and 34 RBI.
On the mound for the Tritons, sophomore, Jaidan Abel, is 7-1 with a 0.92 ERA and 40 strikeouts. Sophomore, Jillian French is 5-0 with a 3.50 ERA and 60 strikeouts. Freshmen, Olivia Hedrick, Josie Juhl, and Scarlett Gordon have also contributed quality innings for the Tritons in the circle.
"Natalie had an unbelievable week hitting in Florida. All of girls all hit well," said Tjebben. "Our pitching has been solid and we'll have to continue to get better as we start play in the toughest conference (ICCAC) there is. Our conference is an absolute grind."
The #21-ranked Tritons opened conference play last week with sweeps of NIACC, Northeast (NE), and Central (NE).
"We're still learning and we're gaining experience as we go," said Tjebben. "The 'want' is there from the girls and we're excited to get back to our home field and play in front of our Triton fans again."
The Tritons are back in action on Wednesday (3/25) in Estherville for a double-header with Iowa Lakes before welcoming Hawkeye on Saturday (3/28) and #9 DMACC on Sunday (3/29) to Harlan Rogers for home double-headers. First pitch is at 1:00 PM both days.
