BOONE - The Iowa Central women are one step away from reaching the NJCAA Div. II National Tournament.
To get there, the Tritons will have to top No. 17 Des Moines Area here Saturday as the two meet in the Region XI-B final. Tip is set for 1 p.m.
During the regular season, Iowa Central (12-8 overall) and the Bears (15-6) split their two meetings. The Tritons posted a 69-63 victory here last month with DMACC winning 67-63 in Fort Dodge to begin February.
Since sitting at 4-7, Iowa Central has won eight of nine, including seven consecutive down the stretch. Isabell West, a Murray State commit, leads the team, averaging 19 points and 13 rebounds per game with 25 career double-doubles.
Iowa Central is seeking its first regional title since 2013 and the seventh in program history. The Tritons also won championships in 2011, '00, 1987, '82 and '80.
Freshmen Grace Flanagan and Magan Christopherson lead DMACC, with Flanagan posting 15.5 points and Christopherson 15 per game. Jada Powell averages nearly 10 rebounds a night and Emily Caspers seven.
