PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Iowa Central men's track team used their depth to claim another national title here Saturday.

The Tritons finished with 90.5 points to claim the NJCAA National Indoor Championships ahead of Barton County and Cloud County.

On the women's side, Iowa Central placed fifth overall, as Barton County claimed team honors with New Mexico second and South Plains third.

This is the sixth national title for the program in the past nine years, and third over the last four seasons.

Courtney Lindsey won the 200-meter dash in a time of 20.89. Lindsey also placed second in the 60-meter dash in 6.64, re-setting his own school record in the race. Kris Brown was fifth.

The 4×400 relay of David Dunlap, Ethan Smith, Phemelo Matihabe and Lindsey set a new school record, finishing second in 3:11.32. The previous mark was set in 2012 at 3:11.44.

Awet Yohannes, who won the 3000 on Friday, placed second in the mile in 4:17.66.

Olivier Soglohun was third in the triple jump, Jadon Watson placed fourth in the high jump, Smith was fifth in the 600, Tyler Lienau finished fifth in the weight throw, Akeem Bradshaw was fifth in the long jump and Mel Obadiah was fifth in the 800.

Lea Grady scored a runner-up finish in the weight throw with a toss of 17.22m, as Maddie Schmoker was fifth.

Winrose Chesang, who won the 3000 and was second in the 5000, placed fifth in the mile in a time of 5:09.39.

Iowa Central's Nigel Bigbee was named the NJCAA Men's Coach of the Meet.

The Tritons now shift their focus to the upcoming outdoor season. They are scheduled to compete in Arkansas March 22-23, with the NJCAA Outdoor National Championships scheduled for May 16-18 in Minnesota.
