Two more wins for unbeaten Tritons

WAHPETON, N.D. - Top-ranked Iowa Central had no trouble remaining unbeaten here Friday, posting two wins in the North Dakota State School of Science Tournament.

The Tritons downed Central Lakes College-Brainerd, 3-0, and Bismarck State College, 3-1.

Katilyn Steffes picked up 22 kills and Jori Hajek had eight to go along with 11 digs for Iowa Central (18-0 overall) to begin the day. Angel Baylark added seven kills, Baylyn Johnson 14 digs and Alesha Johnson 34 assists.

In the win over Bismarck State, Steffes had 15 digs, Baylark 11, Haley Alharithy eight and Hajek six. Alesha Johnson recorded 38 assists and Baylyn Johnson had 20 digs.

"Our first match was against a very good Central Lakes team who has one of the best coaches at the junior college level," Iowa Central head coach Sara Horn said. "We knew they would be a great serving and passing team, so we made sure that area was a focus in match one. 
 
"The second match was against  Bismarck State, who has a really solid program. We always have a great match with BSC when we come up to this tournament and this one didn't disappoint either. They really make you work hard to find points, I think this team will surprise some people when it comes to post season." 
 
Iowa Central finishes play here Saturday against Dakota County at 9:30 a.m. and Jamestown JV at 11:30 a.m.
