The top-ranked Iowa Central volleyball team can take a giant step towards a fourth consecutive ICCAC Div. II regular season championship when they host No. 6 Kirkwood Wednesday night at Hodges Fieldhouse.
Match-time is set for 7 p.m. with fans asked to wear Triton baby blue, with prizes being offered up by the Iowa Central Activities and Intramurals department.
Iowa Central (28-0 overall, 5-0 in league) has won 10 consecutive matches by sweep, dropping just eight sets on the year. They own 10 wins over teams ranked in the Top-14 in the country.
At the Des Moines Area Tournament this past Friday and Saturday, the Tritons topped three ranked teams, including two in the Top-10.
Since the start of the 2018 season, Iowa Central is 111-20 overall, 38-4 in the ICCAC and 43-4 inside Hodges Fieldhouse.
Katilyn Steffes leads the team with 293 kills followed by Brooke Dobson (219), Angel Baylark (202) and Jori Hajek (179). Baylark has 101 total blocks and Haley Alharithy 97.
Alesha Johnson, the reigning ICCAC player of the year, has 966 assists, while Baylyn Johnson has recorded 431 digs.
Kirkwood (19-7, 5-0) is the only other unbeaten team left in league play besides the Tritons. They have won four in a row and are 4-1 on the road this year.
Emily Strauss has 327 kills, Kamara Dickerson 268 and Katie Kopriva 260. Jada Golden-Smith has 90 total blocks and Rachael Nelson 915 assists.
