Talya Sampson – Iowa Central – Sophomore – Outside Hitter
Talya Sampson averaged 6.5 kills per set this past week as Iowa Central convincingly won four matches. In total, Sampson had 90 kills in 208 attempts to record a .432 hitting percentage. Sampson tallied 20 or more kills in three of the four matches, with her most coming against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, where she had 27. With the strong week, Sampson leads the NJCAA in kills with 582 this season, which is 100 more than any other player in Division II.
Chakib Cherkaoui Rhazouani – Iowa Central – Freshman
Chakib Cherkaoui Rhazouani notched another ICCAC Athlete of the Week honor with a top five finish at the Bradley Pink Classic. The talented freshman ran the men's 8K course in 24:03.8 — good enough for a PR — which placed him fifth out of 182 runners. He was the top NJCAA runner, as well as the top non–NCAA Division I athlete. Rhazouani races in the Region 11 Championships this Friday at 4:45 p.m. in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Hafsa Oukadou – Iowa Central – Freshman
Iowa Central freshman Hafsa Oukadou had another top five finish, this time at the Bradley Pink Classic. Oukadou paced almost the entire field, placing fourth out of 215 runners in the women's 6K course. Her time of 22:06.2 was a PR for her as well. She was the top NJCAA runner in the entire field. Oukadou runs again in the Region 11 Championships this Friday.
